Courage is the girl standing up to the bully
The girl who can't take it anymore
Who's self confidence has decreased

Courage is the boy who has cancer
Fighting for his life
People have no faith in a miracle
He's sure he will be okay

Courage is the girl singing at the talent show
Who has the biggest stage fright
But has the best talent

Courage is the woman finishing the race
She has worked for it for months
No one had faith she would finish

Courage is the soldier fighting for America
In fear of his and others death
Still keeps going to this day

Found Poem

I recall times someone judged me
People can be very hurtful
Bullies will say anything
They try to make you feel smaller
They are rude and mean people

Last Dream of My Soul

My last dream of my soul is to be a successful, healthy, and happy person. I believe that all these qualities will lead me to an amazing life. Being successful, healthy, and happy are very important characteristics to me!

I aim for big goals for my future. I thrive to be successful. It’s very important to me. I want to attend a nursing school in either Boston or New York City. I would love to work with cancer patients but I'm not exactly sure what I want to do. My grandmother passed away from cancer and I want to save lives. One day when my grandmother was going into Boston, me and my mother went with her. It made me upset seeing all the sick patients and I would love to help or cure them. My grandmother inspired me to be a nurse. Being successful supplies you with money to provide for your family. Money isn’t the main reason I thrive to be a nurse! Money would just help to provide for my family. I hope that I can achieve my goal of being a nurse and be a thriving woman.

Being healthy is also very important to be. Your health affects a lot! I really do not want to live a short life. I want to live life to the fullest and live a long life. Being diagnosed with a sickness would be awful and I would never wish that upon anyone.  Several people in my family have been very sick and it’s just not fair. It’s also definitely not a good site. Everyone deserves a healthy life and I would enjoy helping someone with that! This relates to my dream of being a nurse. I want to be able to help people, and I hope people would want to do the same for me. I dream of a healthy life with no long term sicknesses.

The last dream of my soul I have is to be happy! A happy person is just genuinely fun to be around. I want to have that effect on people. I don't want to be miserable. We have one life and I would never want to take it for granted. Happiness is the key to a good life. Even if I'm poor and homeless, it would be an honor to be happy. I want to be around happy people. This also ties in to my dream profession. Helping people would bring me joy! Nurses help people and that’s what my goal is. Happiness matters the most to me and leaves a good impact on other people by spreading happiness.

In conclusion, to be successful, healthy, and happy is very valuable to me. All of the characteristics supply one with a tremendous life. I hope I live a successful, healthy, and happy life because it's something you can never get back.

Charles Darnay

Do you resemble the characterists of Charles Darnay? Are you honest, loving and respectful? Those are just a few adjectives to describe Darnay. Darnay is very honest and speaks from his mouth. He will share anything and everything about how he truly feels and what he is hiding. He says " My present name though but slightly changed from my mother's,is not, as you will remember, my own. I wish to tell you what that is and why I am in England". This quote shows him telling the truth to Doctor Manette. He shows his honestly with this quote because he didn't lie and is giving the straight out truth. A lot of people have a hard time telling the truth no matter the circumstances. Charles is also loving. I think Charles Darnay has a big heart. In the novel, Darnay confesses his love for Lucie Manette. He says " It is a tone or fervent admiration, true homage and deep love." This quote shows how deeply in love he is and how strong it is.  "He had loved Lucie Manette from the hour of his danger." By saying this, he means that he has always loved Lucie and will never stop loving her. Lastly, he is very respectful. After he confessed his love to Lucie to Dr Manette he asked for approval. That is very respectful to do in my opinion. "It would be in generous to affect not to know that your self denial is to be referred to your consideration for her father. Her father thanks you." This proves that he wouldn't feel happy with himself if he didn't get approval by her father. He would feel very quilty if Dr Manette didn't like them together. In conclusion, Charles Darnay is good man with the important characteristics of honesty, respectfulness, and to be loving.

Light and Dark

In the book A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens he portrays light and dark to set the tone between the relationship of Lucie and Dr. Manette. "And her hair drooping over him curtained him from the light"( Dickens 35) This signifies that Lucie is protecting him from the ligjht in my opinion. Dr Manette really isn't famikiar with the real world and the updated world so Lucie is protecting him. Dr Manette has been captive in darkness for 18 years of his life that he could have been spending in the light. He missed out on a lot and Lucie is trying to help him by comforting him. "You can bear a little more light" ( Dickens 34 ). This quote means that Dr. Manette needs light. He is not familiar with light and Lucie just simply states that he needs more. "His cold white head mingled with her radiant hair, which warmed and lighted it as though it were the light of freedom shining on him" (Dickens 34). This quote is calling Lucie the light. The quote is saying that he is finally free and the light of freedom is shining on him while Lucies hair warned him. He feels finally free. In conclusion, Charles Dickens sets the tone in  A Tale of Two Cities by using light and dark between Lucie and her father.

Chapter 5

In A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens they forshadow a wine spill in chapter 5. From a narrator looking from aboves prospective it was pretty messy. A huge cask of wine was dropped and shattered. No matter what someone was doing or how important it was, they stopped and began to rush over to the wine. People were doing anything to get some wine. People were trying every way possible to get some. Any way they could they would get it. Some kneeled and made scoops with there hands. Some women used hand-kerchiefs from women's heads. "This wine was red wine, and had stained the ground of the narrow street in the suburb of Saint Antoine, in Paris, where it was spilled". The wine stayed everywhere on the ground red. "there was little roughness in the sport" says Charles Dickens. Everyone was playful and just having fun getting the wine. "There was no drainage to carry off the wine". So, there was no possible way for the wine to go any where besides people's mouths or bags because there was no drain to get rid of it. It was an eventful thing to watch. People were very desperate to drink the wine.

FAMILY

Family is something that stands for a thousand meanings. In my definition a family is a group of people, dosen't matter how big or small, who stand by you. They definitely don't have to be related to you by blood. Family is what keeps you going from my understanding.

I have an amazing supportive family. Even though my parents divorced I have a great support system from both sides of the family which makes me very grateful. My family consists of my mother, my father, my step-father, my brother, and my two step- brothers. I cant leave out my puppy, Gracie.

Every single member in my family is so loving and caring and made me who I am today. I have earned so many personality traits, not just physical, from just being around my family. They give me their humor and their intelligence. They also give me there bravery and sensitivity. I believe that I have a very hard working and devoted family. They are always working and striving to do well to support our family. I also predict that they have given that trait to me since I'm a hard worker at the age of 14. I started working at a job at the age of 13.

It dosen't matter if you have the wealthiest family or the smartest family, it matters that you have a loving and caring family. I learned this statement from A Tree Grows In Brooklyn. In this book, they aren't in good living conditions and don't have money but you can still be happy from the love of your family. Everyone wants money but money for sure cant make you happy. Yes, it definitely can buy you stuff you think you may need but does it make you a better person? In my opinion, no.

I know many people who's parents have passed or they couldn't support their children and there are other figures in their life who they consider parents. That is still family. I consider a lot of people in my life who i'm not blood related to family because they are there for me and love and care for me.

Family is a small word with lots of meaning. It means hope, love, devotion, craziness, and so many more.

I would have to admit how dysfunctional my family is. We all have our ups and downs with one another. We fight over stupid things then forget about it the next day. Its also part of growing up because sometimes us kids make stupid mistakes and our parents just try to teach us right from wrong.

In conclusion, family means a lot to me and i'm so grateful for mine. I hope you are too.
